Gaute Storsve Band at Wiese!

Guitarist Gaute Storsve has, through three albums – Attention: This is not a Toy, for adult collectors only (2018), El Gran Gotzilla (2022), and Bebé K’awiil (2024) – united Nordic jazz with Latin American music traditions. With high quality and great love for music cultures, the band seeks to bring together the best from different expressions. Storsve has drawn inspiration from extended stays in places like Cuba, Mexico, and Guatemala. On stage and in the studio, the band has collaborated with musicians from legendary groups such as Buena Vista Social Club and Irakere.

The music has received excellent reviews internationally and has been played on radio and festivals worldwide – with a performance at Cuba's largest jazz festival, Jazz Plaza, as a highlight.

The band's latest release, Bebé K’awiil (2024), is named after the newborn version of the lightning god in Mayan religion. The album is inspired by the Mayan pantheon, with each track dedicated to a god. The music is a dynamic interpretation of Latin American tradition through a Nordic jazz perspective – with strong emotions and lots of improvisation.
