Ecokrim // JazzIncubator

With the energy and rawness of rock, modern jazz aesthetics, and melodies inspired by the structures and modules of Norwegian folk music, Ecokrim is a band that both challenges and satisfies most listeners. The quartet consists of Sander Fossvold Kolstad on piano and synth, Symre Taugbøl Bang on electric guitar, Jonas Thrana Jensen on electric bass and double bass, and Bendik Jöhnk on drums and saw. The band plays both hard rock riffs and acoustic ballads, performing as a symbiosis of a range of original genre crossovers. The members have backgrounds in jazz, pop, folk, rock, and metal. The result is a unique expression and a vibrant individuality that should be experienced live. Ecokrim's compositions seek the harmonious in the absurd and the pleasant in the unfamiliar, and are inspired by bands and artists like the Maria Kannegaard trio, Karl Bjorå, and Hayden Powell.

The band originates from the Norwegian Academy of Music and had their debut concert at Victoria National Jazz Scene in Oslo in May 2025 in connection with NMH's exam festival. Since then, they have set high goals for the future and also plan to record a debut album in the spring of 2026.

The nature jazz quintet conveys stories through their compositions with themes such as nature and species loss, economic injustice, and overconsumption. They present the music with a raw, playful, and interesting approach and can be considered a fresh and exciting contribution to the Norwegian and international jazz scene.

JazzIncubator is an event by and with young people. Here, young musicians take the stage, and students in 'Marketing and Management of Tourism Experiences' and 'Tourism Management' organize it. In addition to the concerts being experienced live, they are also produced for TV by students at the TV school. The musicians come from all over Norway and occasionally from other countries, while the organizers and producers study at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences in Lillehammer. JazzIncubator has been part of DølaJazz since 2003. Several of the bands have later appeared as established artists at DølaJazz and other festivals.
