This evening celebrates the power and versatility of large jazz ensembles, bringing established musicians and rising stars together on the same stage.
The concert opens with Lillehammer Storband, a long-standing and important part of DølaJazz. The band will perform original compositions and arrangements by Jan Andresen, a key figure in the Lillehammer jazz community who has made significant contributions to the orchestra over the years. The program spans a wide musical range, from atmospheric soundscapes and lyrical ballads to lively and playful compositions. Featured soloists Maria Gram and Torbjørn Gording Backsæther will join the band, led by Vegard Eggen.
Next, the stage belongs to Innlandet Youth Jazz Orchestra (IJO), conducted by Nils Andreas “Nilas” Grosås Granseth. Each year, the orchestra brings together talented young jazz musicians from across the Innlandet region. Since its formation in 2018, DølaJazz has served as the orchestra’s home festival, and IJO has become a valued platform for developing young talent.
The evening concludes with Gjøkur, the band led by trumpeter Markus Dyrud, winner of last year’s DølaJazz Talent Award. During parts of the concert, audiences will also experience an exciting collaboration between Gjøkur and IJO.
Founded by trumpeter Markus Dyrud and saxophonist Andreas Vislie, Gjøkur performs instrumental music rooted in jazz while drawing inspiration from fusion, rock, and danceable grooves. The result is high-energy, melodic music characterized by strong interplay and an unmistakable artistic identity.
