Henriette Eilertsen at Galleri Zink 1:30 PM
As the country's first jazz flutist with a bachelor's degree in performing jazz, Henriette Eilertsen has paved the way for new ways of thinking about the flute in modern jazz. With her solo album "Poems for Flute" and involvement in bands such as Henriette Eilertsen Trio, Andreas Røysum Ensemble, and the composer collective OJKOS, which she helped found, Eilertsen has established herself as a central voice in the Norwegian jazz scene.
In 2024, she was awarded the Kongsberg Jazz Festival's musician prize, a recognition of her contribution to Norwegian jazz. She currently tours Norway and Europe with her latest album "Moder" with the Henriette Eilertsen Trio.
James Welburn at Oplandia Center for Contemporary Art 2:15 PM
Inspired by stays in the Arctic mining communities of Svalbard, James Welburn creates an intense and immersive audiovisual concert experience. With heavy guitar textures, rhythmic electronics, and expansive soundscapes, the music moves at the intersection of atmosphere, physical force, and immersion. His latest album SURGE was developed during artist residencies in Longyearbyen.
Martin Taxt at Lillehammer Art Museum 3:00 PM
Martin Taxt (b.1981, Trondheim) is a trained jazz tubist from the Norwegian Academy of Music. As an improvisational musician and composer, he has a background from projects such as Verdensteatret, Microtub, and Muddersten, as well as numerous collaborations with Japanese musicians. He has released two critically acclaimed solo albums on SOFA, focusing on connections between music and architecture.
For the Art Trail at Lillehammer Art Museum, we will hear him in a solo set with his custom-built microtonal tuba accompanied by subtle sine tones and field recordings.
Each concert lasts around 20 minutes, and the audience will of course also have the opportunity to experience the exhibitions in the respective rooms. A big thank you to Galleri Zink, Oplandia Center for Contemporary Art, and Lillehammer Art Museum for their hospitality!
