Suigard // JazzIncubator

Suigard is a new duo balancing between tradition and innovation. The duo consists of Vegard Hosarøygard from Lom on guitar, and Sunniva Langås-Røiland from Bø on the Hardanger fiddle. Both are students at the Norwegian Academy of Music, where they met in the autumn of 2024 and quickly began collaborating.

Suigard composes the music themselves, with a particular focus on dance rhythm. The repertoire plays with the contrasts between new and old – something that is also reflected in a somewhat unusual lineup. They draw inspiration from both Celtic and American folk music, but most of all the Nordic. They also draw a lot of inspiration from jazz and rock. With Suigard, you get a musical experience in a new tradition - that makes you want to dance.

JazzIncubator is an event by and with young people. Here, young musicians take the stage, and it is students in 'Marketing and Management of Tourism Experiences' and 'Tourism Management' who organize it. In addition to the concerts being experienced live, they are also produced for TV by students at the TV school. The musicians come from all over Norway and occasionally from other countries, while the organizers and producers study at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences in Lillehammer. JazzIncubator has been a part of DølaJazz since 2003. Several of the bands have later appeared as established artists at DølaJazz and at other festivals.
